With reference to Your Lordship's
Despatch No. 106 of the 1st. ultimo, I have the honour to
point out that whereas in the Particulars of Office which
accompanied my Despatch No. 311 of the 17th. of December
last, an unmarried Assistant Surveyor was asked for, a
married officer has been selected for the post.

It was particularly desired that
an unmarried candidate should be selected because the
salary of the post is low for a married man and there are
no married quarters available in the New Territories where
the officer may have to work.
